Professor's Cozy Cottage of Surprises

Granted, not many will purposely stand near busy bees, but if one can be in a meditative state, stay still and calm, and project either “love” or “non-threatening” to our little sisters, one can get close and watch them work.

Curious, fascinating and industrious little things, there are things to adore about them (aside from the good things they do for us humans and the planet). For one, they are fuzzy. There’s much to love about fuzzy, tiny things. Another, who can’t adore a bee butt when they dive head first into a flower? Third, it is kind of mesmerizing to watch their dizzy dance with flowers swaying in the breeze.

I took some photos, but did not want to freak out any non-bee people with an in-your-face photo of something that might scare you 😉

I had many pictures to choose from (as well as a bee butt), but this one shows the gathered pollen on the back legs. The Sisterhood, hard at work! Hopefully by now everyone knows all bees we can see are female. Males are only created by the Queen when she needs to replace workers. They can’t fly, and making more female bees is their only (very important!) job.

It was quite peaceful, standing there pretending to NOT be a flower, in the warm sun and pleasant breeze! I did have to talk myself through the “what will I do if one lands on me?” and work on staying completely calm – even detached.
