Greetings from the Professor

Welcome to the Professor’s writing nook! As all “absent -minded professors”, my mind is chock-full of thoughts, ideas, bits of history to explore, likely some bits of fluff, and the odd query (deep-dive, rabbit-hole-worthy, existential questioning) moments. I hope you, dear reader, will join me for all of it.

What to expect: respectful inquiry, no tolerance for bigotry, racism (any “isms”), shaming, or name calling, no bots. Honesty to a fault (that’s what mirrors with no filters do), but also kindness, care for self and others, and fostering a place of nurturing while we pull back the ‘onion layers’ of ourselves together.

Things I should make clear – even as a like-minded, or enlightened (always working towards), or friendly individual, I am not a friend. I am a mentor, a mirror, someone to bounce ideas off, someone who can hold deep truths and uncomfortable ideas. I am akin to Janus – the dual-faced catalyst, crossroads, Wizard of Oz Scarecrow suggesting multiple paths a person might take. I am akin to a cat that comes and goes as one pleases, rubs her head against you for a moment to say “we are alike” and then disappears. People who join me often launch forward with their new-found sense of self, or fall away due to clinging to something that was never real but looked real. It is not fault on either party, but a misunderstanding of roles. People who stick with me grow with me, form ideas we both learn from and discuss. We leapfrog each other; neither eclipses the other.

I am not here to be admired or put upon a pedestal – I am here as a lantern, a path towards knowledge, a book to ask questions and find answers. I am also a seeker, a fellow traveler, a sponge for divine and metaphoric truths. Once we place unreal expectations on one another, the walls of the cottage crumble to dust.

So! Without further ado, let’s begin!

Curiosity and adventure await,

The Professor
